Commentary for I Chronicles 2:13

וְאִישַׁ֛י הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת־בְּכֹר֖וֹ אֶת־אֱלִיאָ֑ב וַאֲבִינָדָב֙ הַשֵּׁנִ֔י וְשִׁמְעָ֖א הַשְּׁלִישִֽׁי׃

and Jesse begot his first-born Eliab, and Abinadab the second, and Shimea the third;

And Ishai begot his firstborn This is written with the plene spelling, with an “aleph,” meaning that he was a man (אִישׁ), a mighty warrior.
